HALLOWEEN AT THE BOGENŠPERK CASTLE

A lively Halloween party at Johann Weikhard von Valvasor’s castle.

The Bogenšperk Castle hosts a traditional Halloween party every October 31. Witches, warlocks and visitors come together and scare away the cold weather, carve pumpkins, try to find the hidden treasure, enter the enchanted maze, create something magical in the kids’ workshops and watch children’s plays. The Bogenšperk Castle was chosen as the location for this annual event because in the 17th century, Johann Weikhard von Valvasor was, amongst other things, highly interested in witchcraft in the then Carniola. A special alchemist witchcraft collection was made, which was (until very recently) exhibited at the castle.
