LITIJA MARATHON
The main sports event in Litija, very popular amongst the locals.
The Litija Marathon takes place on the second Saturday in June and is an accompanying event of the municipal holiday. It is the largest public sports event in Litija and carries a long tradition. The Public Institute of Culture, Youth and Sports Litija (ZKMŠ Litija) revived the marathon a few years ago.
The marathon is not important only because of the sports event, but also because it tries to connect local people and community organizations, promotes intergenerational socializing, and encourages a healthy lifestyle.
