The Janez Herb Farm is a small hill farm in the village Gradišče pri Litiji. All herbs here are handpicked, air dried, sliced and packed. The herbs are used for different tea mixes and vegetable concoctions, resembling those of our grandmothers’. The products are of high quality, which is confirmed by the Heart of Slovenia certificate.
At the Pivec Herbal Homestead, not far from the Bogenšperk Castle, you can see the herbalist Jožica Bajc Pivec doing what she does best. You can learn about medicinal plants, pick wild-growing herbs and prepare various tinctures and ointments, buy tea mixes, or just ask for some useful advice.
Along the Javorje Energy Trail you can find many different types of herbs, which are then processed into excellent teas, spirits, tinctures, ointments and other products at the Pr’ Nejc Organic Farm. Visitors can regain their strength at seven energy points and refresh themselves with spring water. The quality of the products is confirmed by the Heart of Slovenia certificate.
The Volk Turjaški brewery, located in the Sveta Jurjeva Gora castle, brews local beers called Volk Turjaški Temnozlat, Černi and Jantar. The beer is hand-brewed, which makes Volk Turjaški the only brewery of its kind in Slovenia and one of the few in Europe.
The family company Mesnine Bajec produces excellent meat products, sourced from Slovenian farms. Buy homemade sausages, salamis, pancetta and other delicacies created according to traditional recipes and procedures.
Vilma Kante makes very special gourmet products from her own organic garlic. She adds pears, chili, ginger, rosemary or figs to her pickled garlic. Her delicious products are home-grown on her farm in Moravče near Gabrovka and in her orchard, located somewhere elsewhere in Slovenia.
The family organic farm Vodnjov sells hazelnuts, walnuts, dried fruit, chokeberry products, seedlings and bee products. Groups can go on a tour of the theme park showcasing fruit species and beehives. They also offer lectures on organic farming and various workshops.
The Apidonum brand sells 100% natural, rich, nourishing creams full of vitamins and antioxidants, which make the skin smooth, while also offering protection. Because they do not contain chemicals, preservatives and additives, they are suitable for people of all ages and skin types. They also sell honey.
The Dremelj family is especially well-known for bee queen breedingand excellent honey products. They sell many different products, including honey, propolis, pollen, royal jelly and wax.
In a small local cheese factory in Vače, the Kovač family processes sheep’s milk into semi-hard cheese, yoghurt and cottage cheese. The cheese traditionally made from raw milk, in a copper cauldron. In winter, they also make felt handicrafts from sheep’s wool.
